Roy Keane believes Arsenal overpaid to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United for £105m. Keane had seen Rice’s form up close as an assistant to Martin O’Neill in the Republic of Ireland before Rice was later switched to England.
Rice was expected to step up the ranks at Arsenal, but Keane doesn’t believe the 24-year-old is suitable for that price. ยููฟ่าเบท https://ufabet999.com/
“Obviously he will be surrounded by great players, different needs,” Keane told ITV1.
“If he stood a little taller I think he definitely has quality in terms of scoring more goals. Of course he was physically strong. He can go into the box to try and win.
Rice was handed his debut in Arsenal’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City on Sunday and speaking ahead of the game, Manchester United legend Keane was full of praise for Rice but believes that the 24-year-old faces a challenge to live up to his price tag.
“However, they paid too much for him, of course Declan Rice shouldn’t be worth more than £100 million, but he’s a very good player.”
“We’ll know in the next year or two how good Declan is. He’s improving week by week. He’s a big, strong lad – again, you talk about that physical strength. They’ve been missing that for the last month or two. (of last season)”
“Is he of the highest quality in terms of passing and will score nine or 10 goals? We’ll know soon.”
